Does this seem odd to anyone else? CNN lives for the easy and sensationalistic story, but yet they are the only major news network that hasn’t had a single report or article regarding this mass outbreak of drones? I assumed once the NYT reported on this CNN was sure to follow.

I truly cannot remember another story that was treated this way.

I can’t really explain why but, to me, this is one of the more strange aspect of this story.

I feel like this interview deepens the mystery. When asked why it is so hard to get answers related to the drones governor Murphy responds by saying they are very sophisticated and they go dark the minute you get your eyes on them. What does he mean by this? Do they go dark to the naked eye or all of our advanced military sensors? Did he mean they merely turn off the navigation lights or they literally just vanish.

If they completely lose their signal once they get a lock on them that explains the inability to figure out their take off/landing location.

Murphy may not be getting the whole story but this certainly just made this more interesting.

Original Title: Multiple reports from pilots tonight (December 7-8, 2024, near Eugene Oregon). They were moving fast and at altitudes ranging from 15,000 up to around 50,000, and at speeds not possible in manned aircraft. No radar signature.

OpenAI have released SORA to all ChatGPT pro users (except for those in the EU or UK, which will follow).

This means that as of right now, it has become dramatically easier for people to create convincing yet entirely fabricated UFO footage. Have a look at some of the snippets on their website - they are indistinguishable from reality.

We need to now be even more vigilant than ever before. My view is we need to be treating any new "too good to be true" videos with a substantially extra degree of skepticism.

We need to look deeper for unnatural lighting transitions, strange object reflections, or inconsistencies in the environment. A single, isolated piece of "perfect" footage is now more suspect than ever - in fact, even someone prompting SORA to create a UFO video that isn't entirely hyper-realistic but plausible enough to pass as geniune. SORA can simulate light, motion, and perspective with uncanny precision so our level of due diligence must rise to keep up with these changes.

With such videos, there must be associated metadata before acceptance of legimitatcy is ever considered - if on a modern phone, metadata can be extracted. Date, times and camera model information is more difficult to fake and and if provided, I would hope that those with photography expertise will be able to determine whether such cameras could produce such results.

If they are indeed uploaded, it may even be wise (after they've been debunked), to set up a seperate accessible folder for users to be able to see how the community identified it as AI, for future eductional purposes.

Original Title: Is there any plausible explanation why no one has been able to post any high quality thermal or night vision images of a New Jersey UFO/drone? Here is an example of civilian thermal/night vision optics quality.

With the recent uptick in “drones” incursions in and around the East Coast of the United States, specifically New Jersey it seems that the topic of the Drones in England has fallen by the wayside. Does anyone know if these “drones” are still active in the United Kingdom”? I haven’t heard a lot on these lately. Especially with most attention directed at the incursions in New Jersey and elsewhere in the United States. Seems kind of interesting that one area may have cleared up while another area is heating up. I appreciate all responses. And hope I’ve hit the 300 character threshold that seems to be the requirement now lol.

People keep asking why would they be testing them above populated areas when they could be testing in the desert…. If they do in fact belong to US military, then they have already been tested in the desert. Probably years or decades ago. If these are ours, there’s no way this is a test. This is a deployment. Still doesn’t answer the question of why they’re here. But one thing is certain, this is not a test.

If these drones are indeed coming from our military, it is incomprehensible that they would not notify local EMS of drone operations.

This is a fairly helpful breakdown of what is currently known about the drone situation in New Jersey. However, I think the framing on the post is wrong.

It's clear that there is some event happening, but we don't yet know who is responsible or why. That's perfectly fine, and it's great for people to want more information and to try to get it. It's good the police and media are looking into it. Is it a foreign adversary? The U.S. government? Only time will tell.

But that is actually a separate question from the "mass hysteria" question.** There can be both a real event and mass hysteria arising from it.**

Let's assume for a second that not only is the NJ drone event happening, but that the drones are actually alien intelligence. Even in that case, not every video posted here purporting to show these drones will actually be showing the drones. Not necessarily through malice, mind you, but many people will be trying to get video of these objects and, to an untrained eye, even a normal passenger jet might look unusual for someone who doesn't look up all that often.

The fact that there are videos of planes doesn't mean the NJ situation isn't happening. It just means those videos of planes are from well-meaning but ultimately wrong people.

Where the mass hysteria comes in isn't that the drone situation isn't happening, it's thinking that every blinking light in the sky is part of it. Don't turn off the critical part of your brain just because you want something to be true.

There have been a lot of videos posted here recently that show airplanes, helicopters, or even plastic reflecting balls on power lines. That doesn't mean UAPs are fake or whatever. All it means is those videos aren't showing them - and that should be OK!

All we do is speculate and post poor quality images and video. There's a sea of content here and while some of it is compelling the majority of it isn't high enough quality to warrant much thought.

What if we create a thread that we can source people to that has a lot of information on photography equipment, resources on techniques and what attachments to use in what environments.

It would be really cool if some professional photographers in the community could come forward and provide some insight into what we need to get that clear video or image on a dark hazy night.
