I have previously posted about this anime on Reddit and tried to criticize it but after reading about the series on Wikipedia (link provided) I feel the need to clarify what I’ve learned now.
The girls of Franchouchou have all died, yes, but get this: Kotaro resurrected all of them with his magic, so technically they’re all alive and well. As for their zombie-like behavior in Good Morning SAGA, it would be because the girls were braindead from being actually dead up to now besides Sakura being awakened already. How that works, I don’t know, and I still have so many questions about the show having seen it about one-to-two years ago on Crunchyroll.
My concerns about the show are the legal implications of famous dead people being tampered with by a maniac to rehabilitate someone into an entertainment industry, including famous idols Junko Konno and Ai Mizuno who clearly weren’t pleased with being dragged out of the afterlife by Kotaro along with Sakura and the other girls picked for the group.
And then we have Lily Hoshikawa, who should’ve been a controversy from the start with her transgender identity in the industry, not to mention…what does it have to do with zombies? I’m a Christian who follows the Bible and I found this to be wierd when I learned more about it.
More importantly, I saw the anime looking for zombie characters but got that premise thrown out the window for something completely different that got covered up by idol girls singing in spite of reason, logic, legality, and initially choosing to feature zombies at first anyway.
It seems like none of that matters when the producers thought what we really wanted were idol girls instead of more cool zombie action. Not to mention how Kotaro addressed the part of the
audience (and me) that wanted zombies instead. What they did instead was make them alive.
I have an OC named Maria who is an actual zombie in my works: a moaning, drooling, shambling, kinda functioning corpse woman who more resembles a monster than a regular person. I also have another OC named Johnathan who also behaves like a zombie and functions like one. Maria got married because I decided to portray zombie romance like in other fiction but I wanted my fiction to be light-hearted in tone yet accurate to previous existing zombie works.
Personally, I now hold nothing against the anime but after watching it I’ve become fixated on it and am currently trying to overcome it by reading comics more since anime and manga are currently the most popular mediums of the world. I don’t want to disrespect the fans of the anime or the two mediums in general (although I probably helped them both thrive anyway) but I wanted to get my thoughts out in a more proper manner so long as we all respect each other.
I’m currently still dealing with an anime fixation
that I hope will soon face away once I start watching Batman: The Animated Series on DVD. There are probably more episodes than Saga and much older and much better quality but this is all probably my own unpopular opinion and you might hate me for discussing Saga further.
I’m just burned out from the two mediums now that they’re both taking over the world just like
Franchouchou would, so I want to support my own kind of comics with all due respect to them.
This is just a personal account of watching my last anime or reading my last manga before I lost control of my mental health in the process now.
So don’t hate or blame me for it: all I ask is that is I get treated with respect so long as I do you.
EDIT: Oh, and I like classic works in any medium
more than what’s being put out right now…not that there is anything wrong with it to you. Here, I prefer classic anime and manga so I asked for recommendations with respect to you all.
