We've seen an uptick in people posting dunks in here that belong in dunk_tank, as well as low-hanging fruit that gets removed from or isn't allowed in dunk_tank anymore. For context, rule 8 of dunk_tank:

Rule 8: The subject of a post cannot be low hanging fruit, that is comments/posts made by a private person that have low amount of upvotes/likes/views. Comments/Posts made on other instances that are accessible from hexbear are an exception to this.

There's a reason that dunks are cordoned off to their own comm, some users rightfully don't want to see reactionary nonsense all the time, even if we're making fun of the person who said it. /c/cth is a general-purpose comm but it's NOT for posting some random nobody asshole twitter user's bad takes, the absolute best course of action to take when you see that stuff out in the wild is to either directly shit on them yourself, or ignore them and don't give them more attention.

From this point on I'm going to be more stringent about moderating this. I get it, it's fun to dunk on the libs and the blue checks and the frothingfash and that's why we have a whole dedicated comm for that. Any post that's obviously meant to be "hey look at this piece of shit, let's laugh at how bad their opinions are, upbears to the left and emojis in chat" belongs in the_dunk_tank. And any super low-hanging fruit doesn't belong on this site, period (see TDT rule 8 above). We have better things to do with our time than give unearned attention, time and energy to low-follower-count nobodies yelling into the void.

Thanks for your discretion comrades, stay sicko sicko-jammin

edit: as others have pointed out, /c/shitreactionariessay@lemmygrad.ml is a good place for any and all dunking content not allowed here. Post that ragebait to our comrades at the 'grad, they'll make good use of it. Also, per rule 9 of TFT dunking on fediverse users is still explicitly allowed so it's still open season on those in our own backyard.

This is on my mind, since I had to temp-ban someone from c/vegan for it in the past week, and another example of it went unmoderated for hours after being reported in another community (though it was eventually dealt with).

It doesn't matter how much the person you're responding to deserves it. Odds are, they will not care. But you know who will care? Any comrades who happen to read the thread and who struggle with suicidal ideation and/or self harm. You could ruin their day. You could be the push that sends them over the edge. Even in the unlikely event that you cause grief to the person you're responding to, no amount of collateral damage is worth it.

Don't make suicide bait posts or comments. Don't upvote suicide bait posts or comments. Report and denounce them wherever they show up.

2/4/2021 Update: In light of chucklefuck TERF shit with Giggle, I am once again demanding the rest of you liberals educate yourselves on trans issues with Trans Liberation as a starting point. And you better believe more literature on minority struggle is in the pipelines. We're doing some reading this month, libs. Get ready.

AUDIOBOOKS HAVE BEEN RECORDED FOR ALL 8 CHAPTERS. YOU LITERALLY HAVE NO EXCUSE FOR LIBERALISM.

https://hexbear.net/post/48476

Follow that link and you'll find a free download of the book in pdf and comrade @EugeneDebs's epub, comrade @futomes' audiobooks for all eight chapters, and notes and discussions from the book (and don't you dare just read the fucking notes you god damn liberals, read the fucking book or listen to the audiobook).

I spent an entire weekend night scanning the whole damn book so y'all could educate yourselves on the fucking struggles we've been screaming about for the past six months and hardly any of you damn cissie libs participated. Had you participated you'd probably have a better understanding of the struggles we face and we probably wouldn't be in this situation where trans people are heading for this damn hills because you're all shit libs driving us away.

Fucking read it or listen to the audiobooks and I won't ask again. It's all free. The book is only 147 pages - that's 7 pages per night for exactly 3 weeks. I wipe my fucking ass with 7 pages, that's nothing. People put genuine effort into this to ensure you could educate yourselves and you have no reason not to outside of fucking liberalism.

It reads quick. Drop whatever the fuck you're reading and read this. Now. :leslie-shining:

~~Edit: I'll be throwing up a discussion thread at some point in the next week or so for you damn shitlibs to comment on with things you find meaningful so I'll know if you actually gave a shit. I swear to God I better see y'all in the comments.~~

If you're having trouble downloading, there are links in this comment by u/hexaflexagonbear that seem to work.

Sore Loser

With three weeks to go until Election Day, Donald J. Trump stands a reasonable chance of becoming the 47th President of the United States. Despite assassination attempts, impeachments, special counsels, felony convictions and hundreds of millions in civil penalties, most polls show his race against V.P. Kamala Harris is too close to call.

The first time he ran for president in 2016, he was coming off the last season of Celebrity Apprentice. I had a front row seat as a finalist on that final season and marveled at his audacity with his checkered past to seek the highest office in the land. Then, in the blink of an eye, he went from novice to formidable challenger to victorious over Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

As President he was a loyal friend, who allowed regular access. My resulting coverage gave him the benefit of most doubts. His presidency was underrated. Throughout his first big scandal in office, the 2017-2019 Mueller Investigation into allegations Trump conspired with Russia to undermine our political process, I stuck with him, deeply suspicious of constant efforts to undermine his Administration.

The last time President Trump and I spoke was Friday, November 13, 2020, when he called me at home. It was ten days after his narrow lost to Joe Biden. He was calling to get my take on the controversies surrounding the election, which appeared to have been decided by a handful of votes in several states. I asked him what he would do if the vote count remained against him. As I reported on Fox News that same morning, Friday the 13th, he told me he was a reasonable man and would do the right thing if that time came.

It never did. Instead, President Trump embarked on an increasingly menacing campaign to discredit the 2020 election. With a motley supporting cast of increasingly fringe characters, he careened from one bizarre theory to the next, offering no meaningful proof, that he had been robbed by the Democrats.

None exists. If you are a Republican, Donald Trump has made a liar of you. He has coaxed and intimidated tens of millions into pretending he was reelected in 2020, and that the election was stolen.

In furtherance of that Big Lie, on January 6, 2021, Trump incited and unleashed the violent attack on the center of democracy, the U.S. Capitol for which he was Impeached. As his followers trashed that sacred space, he was on the phone urging Vice President Mike Pence essentially to overturn the will of the American people. Pence refused to put Trump ahead of the Constitution. Trump stabbed the Constitution in the back.

Maybe you are inclined to vote for the former president anyway, because he says he will cut your taxes or build the border wall or pull out of NATO or put tariffs on China. However, you justify voting for Trump, adopting his big lie about the stolen election makes you a liar.

Better to admit he lost last time but that you don’t care because a Harris presidency would be a disaster, or you admire his defiance in the face of an assassin’s bullet. Just don’t pretend that he got robbed in 2020. That is a lie. Former President Trump is a sore loser who cannot be trusted to honor the Constitution. That is why I am voting for Kamala Harris to be our 47th President.

A war is raging in the Middle East, and Iran is on the brink of getting nuclear weapons.  Donald Trump is responsible for this dangerous development because his administration withdrew, in 2018, from the U.S.-Iranian nuclear deal that restricted Tehran's ability to make highly enriched uranium bomb material.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors in Iran verified that Tehran was in compliance, but then-President Donald Trump claimed that he, the self-proclaimed “master of the deal,” would get a better agreement.

He did not.

Of course it isn't Israel being belligerant af. It's evil Tehran and the Orange Man who are responsible.

"Strongman jaw-jaw" makes me laugh.

41 percent of likely voters agreed with the assessment that “people who are offended by Donald Trump take his words too seriously.”

“The normal rules just don’t apply to Donald Trump, and you’ve seen it time and again,” said Neil Newhouse, a Republican pollster. Mr. Newhouse said that he has found in his polling and focus groups that “people think he says things for effect, that he’s blustering, because that’s part of what he does, his shtick. They don’t believe that it’s actually going to happen.”

[...]

During Mr. Trump’s term in office, some of his autocratic rhetoric did become reality. He really did set in motion a Muslim ban; he really did order up investigations of his foes; he really did foment a mob when the election didn’t go his way. But in other instances he was stymied, and a lot of his strongman jaw-jaw remained just that.

[...]

Mr. Trump [addressed] the Detroit Economic Club. Presidents Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama had all, in their respective days, come to Michigan to talk to this club, too.

There were a few hundred people there. They were not the sorts of people one encounters at a Trump rally. They weren’t construction workers or truck drivers or forklift operators; they carried business cards and had very active LinkedIn pages. They did not wear red hats or T-shirts with images of Mr. Trump’s bloodied face; they wore windowpane suit jackets and loafers and rather conspicuous cuff links.

They did not want to hear about “one really violent day” or about the deep state or the Marxists or the fascists or any of the other radical or antidemocratic visions that Mr. Trump describes in baroque detail at his rallies. They just wanted him to tell them that he would be good for business.

According to senior defense officials, the Israeli government is not seeking to revive hostage talks and the political leadership is pushing for the gradual annexation of large parts of the Gaza Strip. In closed-room discussions, these officials say the chances of reaching a hostage deal appear slim right now. One of the reasons cited is that since negotiations were suspended, there has been no discussion among international players involved in the talks.

In addition, they say, Israel's political leaders have not held any discussions with the various security branches about the condition of the hostages. Army commanders in the field who spoke with Haaretz say the recent decision to launch operations in northern Gaza was taken without any in-depth discussion. They said it appeared that the operations were aimed principally at pressuring local residents, who were again told to evacuate the area for the coast as winter is approaching.

It is possible that the operation is laying the groundwork for a decision by the government to put into effect the so-called surrender or starve plan of Maj. Gen. (ret.) Giora Eiland. That plan calls for all the residents of northern Gaza to be evacuated to humanitarian zones in the south, with those choosing to remain deemed Hamas operatives and legitimate military targets. While Gazans in the south are getting humanitarian assistance, those who remain in the north will face hunger.

Defense officials who were asked to respond to the Eiland plan pointed out that it violated international law and that the chances of the United States and the international community supporting it were virtually zero. They said it would further undermine the legitimacy of Israel's entire Gaza offensive.

Both sides are trying their best to throw the election because both sides know what's coming

The infinity-debt-bubble is going to burst the instant the rates get "emergency" cut which will likely be at the next FOMC meeting (This is coincidentally ONE day after the election is decided). 2007 / 08 / 09 look IDENTICAL to what is currently happening.

  1. Spam: "wow we fixed the markets" (which to them, is the same as the economy)
  2. Cut rates (This will be an "emergency" cut that "nobody" will see coming)
  3. Hyper-inflate the USD (Furthering BRICS' claim to the new WRC)
  4. Drive people into foreclosures
  5. Consolidate wealth on the (very large) dip
  6. Ask for another gov bailout at the expense of the tax payers

I wrote the following 8 months ago:

Step 1. Tie up russia w/ Europe so they can't help their allies in the middle east (implode Iran to "protect Israel" seems like most libs will accept that)

Step 2. Destroy trade routes out of china through the middle east

Step 3. Naval fuckery against China to lock them out of trade entirely.

Step 4. Buddy up with any SA country dumb enough to provide cheap slave labor to pivot out of China (Such as bringing FABs to Mexico/Argentina/Arizona)

The good thing is; however, their plan will not work (but it does explain why neither party wants to win). The bankers/1%ers win regardless, and the puppets in the kayfabe show know that "their side" of the uniparty will get far more donations during the period that they aren't in charge.

This is entirely why the US is charging head-first into Iran while blaming Israel/Zionists/Jews. The American markets need the boost to the MIC or they're going to lose the WRC

Enjoy the fall

I was thinking about how the idea of some form of secession of states is always discussed in some really silly right-wing fantasy contexts but has there been any discourse in leftist circles about this? Especially in terms of the completely broken political system.

Otherwise is this a completely stupid idea on its face? Either way I'm just interested to hear about people's thoughts.

24

Supporting genocide is right-wing, "reaching across the isle" to republicans is right wing. Failing to defend people from republican policy is right wing. Listening to corporate needs before the general public is right-wing. Failing to enact leftist policy is right-wing. Sacrificing millions of people to a disease because you're scared people will like welfare is right-wing. Hating communist countries and sanctioning them is right-wing. Filling your party with landlords is right-wing. Being buddies with war criminals like Bush JR just because he doesn't like Trump is right-wing. And defending literal Nazis? Yeah, I shouldn't have to tell you that's right-wing.

If you support the Democrats you are not a leftist, you are not progressive, you are Trump with a blue coat of paint.
