MODERATORS

It's so fucking annoying when a popular sub has or gets compromised mods, for any type of propaganda.

Also, fuck Putin.

Not sure what you're on about, but I can't help myself but upvote a "fuck Putin."

[–] gofsckyourself@lemmy.world 24 points 4 months ago (4 children)

Let me test this.

Windows is better than Linux.

Fuck Putin.

On one hand you have something that has no business existing and provides no value to humanity, and on the other, you have a terrible operating system. I'm feeling conflicted... Upvote.

Not sure which Politics sub you're talking about, but it's not ours.

[–] lvxferre@mander.xyz 42 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (7 children)

OP is likely talking about !politics@lemmy.world, given the modlog of that community showing many of his comments being correctly removed, and then he was issued a one day ban.

This is not about liking Putler or not. He was behaving like a wild monkey.

(I'm totally stealing "I mean, more importantly, please wipe your mother's cum off your chin before speaking to me" as an insult though.)

[–] elliot_crane@lemmy.world 19 points 4 months ago (1 children)

lmfao gotem

I’ll give OP that removing the comment “you sound like a Putin shill” is kinda borderline but it seems to much more be the straw that broke the camel’s back. Dude clearly broke rules several times going back months and got given kid gloves treatment. Homie got like 12 strikes til you’re out and “out” ended up being a 24h ban LOL

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago (1 children)

We'd remove it on lemmy.world too under the civility rule.

Totally OK to say politician x is a Putin shill.
Not OK to attack other users.

[–] elliot_crane@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago

Yeah dude that was like the tamest thing OP said…

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 15 points 4 months ago

I will push you into the gas chambers ahead of me.

Jesus Christ, dude…

I don't know what drove OP, but .ml has a tendency to take moderator or even admin action against anything containing the word "tankies". Many of those admin actions weren't warranted, in my opinion. It doesn't help that the admins taking this action can be the devs behind Lemmy. I think it's no secret that .ml and lemmygrad used to be hosted by the same people on the same server, though they seem to have split off these days.

In the end: their server, their rules. I tend to avoid .ml communities because I disagree with them, but they're free to police their server as they wish. I do wish they would make their pro-communism stance more visible, though.

[–] lvxferre@mander.xyz 10 points 4 months ago

What I'm going to say is probably biased ~~after I've cracked some tins~~ because I'm a communist, but.

lemmy.ml is a case aside; the issue with its admin team is not "tankiness", but lack of transparency and willingness to gaslight users, Reddit style, to believe that they're enforcing a small set of rules, when the actual rules are wider, and full of hidden rules. Three examples:

  • criticism against either the Russian Federation or the People's Republic of China - two governments - gets silenced as "rule 1", i.e. xenophobia. This is specially bad coming from communists that were supposed to understand the difference between a population and a part of an abstract structure of power.
  • you can't fucking hold a decent conversation with lolbertarians¹ without the lolbertarian getting "magically" banned as "rule 2". If you don't get the difference between a disagreement and rudeness, why did you even leave Reddit, you bloody spez wannabes?
  • the whole fiasco handling ani.social. First one of them lies² that ani.social hosts CSAM (it doesn't), to justify defederation and removing it from the join-lemmy page³; then as c/anime users were talking about migrating the community to ani.social, wrecking two discussions about it under the bullshit claim that it was "doxxing" said admins⁴. (It's actually a bit worse.)

If it was just "their server, their rules", it would be a-OK. Except that it's more like "we have rules lol. We won't tell you all of them lmao. And if you break the hidden ones we're going to gaslight you and other suckers = users into believing that you broke one of the stated rules."

I think it’s no secret that .ml and lemmygrad used to be hosted by the same people on the same server, though they seem to have split off these days.

It's more than that. Without saying who's who, the admin teams of LG and lemmy.ml overlap.

And... frankly I used to be a lemmygrad user, a lot of those actions (such as getting rid of people criticising communism) wouldn't be out-of-place in LG, because it's transparently an instance for us commies. lemmy.ml is not.

[Sorry for the rambling. I've been with this shit in my chest since the ani.social fiasco.]

  1. By "lolbertarian" I mean those muppets who claim that capitalism will solve social issues. Sure, I disagree with them; but it's a mistake to lump them alongside the alt right as "BIGOTS FUCK OFF".
  2. I'm being kind by saying that they're just lying. The alternative would be worse.
  3. To be fair with the same admin team: another of the admins reverted the decision regarding join-lemmy. Props to that admin.
  4. Worth noting that all lemmy.ml admins use pseudonyms. It gets worse for a specific admin that uses a pseudonym that implies a shared account.

Dude. All you need to do to stop getting comments removed is to stop going for insults as a method of argument. Your modlog would make a Drill Sergeant blush.

To me, instances are like countries. c/Politics@lemmy.ml is not the same as c/Politics@lemmy.world because lemmy.ml culture and policies are different from lemmy.world. In this case, go to c/Politics@lemmy.world.

[–] TheSpermWhale@lemmy.world 15 points 4 months ago

I think thats a pretty good way of seeing it

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 33 points 4 months ago

Just stay off of .ml and you’ll have a way better experience. Too much wrongthink policing going on over there to have any meaningful conversations, you just get DAE capitalism bad or TIL everything wrong in the world is because NATO. It’s boring.

[–] Nobilmantis@feddit.it 26 points 4 months ago (5 children)

What you are saying might be true as well but given your uncivil comment history i am pretty sure a mod "being tankie" is not the reason you are silenced in those communities...

LW is on 0.19 now. Just instance-block .ml and your Lemmy experience will be infinitely better.

[–] skullgiver@popplesburger.hilciferous.nl 10 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Blocking all of .ml as if they were lemmygrad would kick out a rather large amount of Lemmy users who don't know about all this.

I would avoid political communities on .ml, though.

[–] Badeendje@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago

Any community in .ml is dangerous, got a 3 month ban from asklemmy answering a question. The ban actually proved my point.

Defederating from .ml for their moderation and idolizing of totalitarian regimes would be better for the rest of lemmy.. The people that run that instance are no better than MAGAts.

Make your own!

Also, yeah, fuck Putin! What an asshole...

[–] Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 16 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Is this the lemmy.ml politics community? I've stopped short at blocking that server, but I don't sub to communities there any more. Most of those communities already have alts on other servers.

[–] alilbee@lemmy.world 15 points 4 months ago

It's the Fediverse. Go make/run your own. I'm no tankie fan, but if somebody puts in the work to set up and moderate a sub, they kinda get to own that space.

[–] balderdash9@lemmy.zip 6 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Lemmy is the best reddit alternative, but it isn't without its flaws.

[–] nac82@lemm.ee 30 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

The flood of Putin worshipers trying to sell the idea that everybody except for Russia are white supremacists who have to be killed by Russia is pretty obnoxious.

They don't even write to the topics they are responding on, they just leave 5 page copy paste essays on the CIA, a group that isn't elected or representative of the American people in any way.

I tangled with them in one of their subs and they scrubbed all my questions about what part of executing Navalny secretly in prison was justice.

They say he said bad words so secret state killing was justified but also there is no proof it was a secret killing as Russia is perfect.

It's exhausting to have to share space with these people.

[–] Rolder@reddthat.com 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Wonder how they excuse Putin arresting people for attending the funeral. Wait I can already predict that: It’s all NATO propaganda that is all a lie.

[–] nac82@lemm.ee 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

No response removed my comment lmao.

Yes I literally asked about this.

[–] snooggums@midwest.social 4 points 4 months ago

The biggest flaw is that it is full of people, and a lot of people have terrible opinions.

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Which politics community? (I’m mostly commenting to check back later)

[–] Deceptichum@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

.world, the mod log is posted elsewhere in this thread and it’s just comment after comment of OP hurling abuse at people.

Ops just a whiney little shit.

People throw around the term 'tankie' like Halloween candy around here, though.
