It’s currently limited to 2M which is really tough. I know I’m lucky that they haven’t outright killed google voice but I still think it would be reasonable to keep up with the times.

Maybe one day we’ll get proper support for video

I can’t believe there isn’t a good HTPC OS that can handle launching Netflix, prime, plex, whatever.

I haven’t used Kodi in a few year but at least then Kodi and the big apps didn’t play well together.

I don’t hate google

I feel like this isn’t a fanboy situation. If he actually goes through will this and people get fucked up the hammer will fall hard and fast.

This really might be the one that gets him. It’s one thing when self driving doesn’t quite work right or when that tunnel project gets abandoned. If they install these things and people get seriously hurt (I know cars can hurt people) it’s going to be a shit storm.

What does “will get upgraded” mean here. I have google fiber on the 1gig plan. I pay $70 a month and they email nearly weekly asking if I’ll upgrade to the 2gig for $100. 1gig is plenty for me but if I can take 20gig for $70 I guess I’ll take the upgrade.

Same. And they send me an email every few weeks to see if I’ll upgrade to 2gig. I pretty damn happy with just the 1gig. I can’t imagine what I’d do with 20gig.

Not sure this is what you’re asking but it’s a thought I have had.

Let take a creative job like writing for a tv show. They will hire writers that have various background and they will pull from them with interesting scenarios and ideas.

I always though that there is a nearby endless amount of random people just going about their life that might have amazing ideas for shit. They will never be a tv show writer because their an accountant or a teacher or whatever. However, they might have a ton or even one really great idea.

Me and my wife like to get high and pitch ideas back and forth. When we have a good one we put into a google doc. They’ll never see the light of day but I’m sure I’d the right person had access to them they could make them into something great.

I guess my point is there is a huge untapped creative bucket of “regular people”.

I’m all for insane early adopters to iron out kinks I’d stuff like this. I’m sure we’ll need these speeds at some point but I can’t imagine the average people will in the 15-20 years.

I’d say this is more bandwidth then my entire road would need in total.

I’m all about thinking ahead but this seems insane. Really struggling to think of a home use need this these speeds.

I run a relatively small server for family and friends and I haven’t moved to 2gig plan because even that seems like overkill.

I have a deep love for Halloween season. I always wanted to get a waterphone. They are just a little to expensive for something that would 100% be a novelty.

I found this tread on that old site where it seems like others are experiencing the same as me. Doesn’t look like there was any resolution…

I still want to see a badass version of the Kim Dotcom whole fiasco

It’s frustrating that the artist list doesn’t have all of the alphabet. Mine only goes A-L for example. This might be a CarPlay side limitation but either way it’s not great.

If I wanted to play Warren Zevon I can only do it from my phone.

About 2-3 years ago the line clogged and I didn’t catch it for a while and we had some serious water damage. It just clogged again and I caught it pretty quick but it could have been bad.

Shop vac solves the immediate problem but I’d like a more permanent solution. Any ideas?

I love clicking through the cast of movies but I wish I could do the same the creators of movies/shows.

I’ve swipped left/right, I’ve long clicked, and I’ve check menus and I don’t see how to delete.

We both setup servers at about the same time a few years ago and shared with each other. I’m sure once the dust settles someone will pull the he plug on his server and it’ll be offline for good.

Watching School Of Rock on his server one more time while I can.

Edit: his server is officially offline now. Rest in peace.

Feels like I hear so much doom and gloom but also some positives sprinkled in. Wanted to see what the community thought.

Before I even start let me say that I know the suggestion is to put 4k into it own library...

99% of my movies are 1080p and that is my preference for space and quality balance. However, there are a few choice movies that I'll want a 4k version of. I would rather my users get defaulted to the highest non-4k version but then have the option to select a different version if they were savy enough to do that.

Feels like it shouldn't be a terribly complicated feature. Have a "include x quality in default version selection". Or hell for my random case use if I could just manually reorder them I'd be happy.

Any idea why this would happen. I think it’s mostly (if not always on my roku that I’ve noticed it.

Off by ~2 seconds if I directly play but is fine if I downgrade the quality.

For example UKPersonalFinance@feddit.uk only actually has 71 subscribers currently.
