Good news for you, there is a ReVanced version of Joey now. It's a patch for the APK, the only thing it does is spoof your client so that Reddit doesn't know you are using a third-party app. I have been using it for weeks now and works flawlessly, even NFSW content.

Here is a guide if you'd like to try it.
