I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don't look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I'd go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I got my uBlock Origin ready to kill all the ads. That shitty website will not get a cent out of me.

What about you? Do you still use reddit?

lemmy has completely replaced reddit for me ngl, it's pretty much the same experience, for me at least, and I actually like it here more, people are more engaging and I got 100+ upvotes on a post for the FIRST TIME!

honestly I don't see myself going back, I will miss finding a niche sub and having enough content there for me to scroll for hours but hey, we'll get there too eventually!

[–] Itsgodzilla@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Nope, I haven't been there even once since switching over to Lemmy

[–] popcorp@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 year ago

Only when googling stuff I sometime add site:reddit.com, but I am no longer browsing reddit on my phone. With the death of RIF and APIs I just can't stomach looking at the page.

And good bless old.reddit redirector plugin.

Two subreddits that I check on occasion for information/memes, both of which I'm hoping will eventually gain traction here. I don't have an account though.

I still hang out mostly on Reddit. As much as the site’s gone downhill, I’m mostly active on the fandom-specific subs, which don’t have nearly as much of a presence on Lemmy. The general meme communities have been flourishing, but the fandom communities are basically ghost towns, and even those that see a bare minimum of activity are far from enough to pop up in my feed. Right now, /r/yugioh has ten times as many online users as /c/yugioh has subscribers period - and that’s one of the more active niche communities I follow! I’ll still be keeping an eye on Lemmy and post to both sites when I can, but we’ve got a lot more growing to do before I’m ready to finally ditch Reddit.

Also, Reddit has the hentai. The specific fandom subs at least have small barely-active communities here but their NSFW counterparts are totally nonexistent.

Stopped using on June 30, deleted content. Nuked account on July 9 (10th cake day).

Need a replacement for r/xwingtmg and come October, hopefully c/anes will be as game day active as r/canes, but fuck Spez.

[–] oranges@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Literally have not been back since I decided to leave before the blackout.

Considering incised to spen hours a day s rolling that place, I haven't missed it and just moved on. 12years or more I was a regular contributor and viewer and quit cold turkey style :)

Sometimes I use Reddit to search up nonfiction book recommendations on r/books with searx.be (it automatically fetches you results on the old reddit website) because to be honest, it's pretty much one of the few places where I can find nonfiction recommendation for niche topics or just nonfiction readers in general (that isn't just about self-help books). Not only that, the users generally give a synopsis so it's easier to find what book you'd be interested in. But since Reddit made porn less accessible, my reddit usage dropped significantly.

Swapped in Memmy at the Apollo spot on my phone’s home screen, and not looking back! It’s been great so far.

Unfortunately there are a couple of very specific subs which have no equivalent on Lemmy and I have gone back for them once or twice. I’m considering leaving those communities behind. Although it sucks to have to do so, ultimately it feels like the right thing to do.

[–] Jakdracula@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Nope. Left as soon as Apollo ended.
Only went back to transfer all my subscriptions using the Voyager tool - found under settings “migrate subreddits”. On June 29 I used a different tool to delete all my posts on Reddit. I’m leaving my empty account there as a form of protest.

I lurk on my country's subreddit once a day through libreddit or on browser with ads blocked. I used to do that for a couple other small subs but I don't bother doing it as much anymore, I just check what's posted there like 1-2 times a week at this point

[–] foofiepie@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I’ve only popped in to check on a drama once since.

Lemmy is working for me. There’s less content and commenting but it’s noticeably picking up in the last few days.

[–] delirium@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Some of the specific communities are there but not here or barely alive here (like my phone's brand) so I'm visiting them from PC. Spez gets no moni because I'm always using unblock there though

[–] calebcharles@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 year ago

Cold turkey. I trad an interesting crosspost back-and-forth about the new gold deprecation thing, but other than that, no.

[–] erre@programming.dev 2 points 1 year ago

Lemmy got active enough after the API changes took effect that I have rarely been back.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 year ago

I had a web result that the result I was looking for was on Reddit. I guess that's technically using it, but I wasn't logged in and didn't touch anything. It still counts as a visitor though, and I'm disappointed in that.

[–] Cpo@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Totally off reddit. I have seamlessly replaced one with the other.

[–] HubertManne@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

nope but my account is not deleted. Have not had time to follow up on my data request. mostly because of kbin :)

[–] privacyn@feddit.it 2 points 1 year ago

I don’t have Apollo anymore so I don’t go to Reddit anymore from mobile, but i use it from time to time on desktop

[–] interdimensionalmeme@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Yes, I will only switch when this link,

/c/knitting

Shows every post to /c/knitting on every instance, in chronological order. Without having to subscribe to every instance, without having to create multireddit equivalent.

Just give me lemmyverse's entire /c/knitting

[–] Pamasich@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

I still use Reddit, I didn't move here because I was pissed at apps going away (never used them anyway), just wanted to familiarize myself before I'll be forced to move when they inevitably remove old reddit in the future.

There's still communities important to me that either only exist on Reddit or have way too little engagement here. Until they remove old reddit or that changes, I'll stay on reddit. But I'm doing my part by having disabled ads on reddit (I had them enabled before the third party app stuff).

[–] Zarxrax@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

The RIF app was reddit to me. I would typically spend over an hour per day on it.

I do still check Reddit maybe once a day on my desktop, maybe for about 5 minutes. There are still a few communities on there which don't have an active alternative here on Lemmy. However, I have deleted all my old posts and comments, and I do not make any new ones.

[–] cybercitizen4@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I do for niche communities, especially those for reading / books / literature. There’s fewer of those here on Lemmy, and the ones in languages other than English are nonexistent.

[–] Myriadblue@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Same. I have royal road, but it's not the same.

I still use it for dinner subs that moved over to lemmy, but couldn't grow much. Like 40klore.

[–] e033x@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I do on my desktop, but my mobile browsing (which is the vast majority) is all lemmy.

[–] lfr1138@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I still look, but mostly to: a) Keep up with the Oakland Athletics fan protest efforts as the A's sub is where that really got coordinated with the larger community b) Try to figure out if some of the oddball subs I am on there and enjoyed have equivalents here, on the Matrix, Telegraph, etc.

I feel like I will kill my account there once those things are resolved enough to make Reddit fully pointless for me.

[–] BromSwolligans@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Sometimes I open up the home page to see what's up, then I see what's up is less interesting than it used to be and less interesting than what's happening here. And I close it pretty quickly. I'm still using it as part of my Google searches when I need quick human answers. It's gonna continue to be a historical resource in that regard. No getting around that. But my account only exists so that I can access those resources without too much fuss. It's not something I use to post or contribute. I used the Sign In With Apple feature to just generate a throwaway anonymous account after I deleted my 11 year old account.

[–] TeamDman@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Only to check /r/canadapublicservants and /r/urf, otherwise I'm avoiding it. Unfortunately it still is often one of the best sites in search results

[–] dfyx@lemmy.helios42.de 2 points 1 year ago

I occasionally check https://reddit.com/r/artifexian which is the official community for a youtube channel and podcast that I like.

Other than that, I'm out.

[–] cakeistheanswer@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

I've checked the frontpage from time to time just to monitor what's changing, but I have yet to log in.

[–] SomeBoyo@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago
[–] a4ng3l@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I slipped maybe twice by accident via google search results but that’s it. Until I need to get opinions to buy something it will be okay I guess.

[–] PrivateNoob@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

I do because there are a lot of valuable infos, but I 'm deliberately not voting and commenting.

[–] Anon819450514@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

Only for superstonk and wallstreetbets. I find the fediverse including Mastodon enough for me. I was never a Twitter guy, but I created a Mastodon account on Infosec and it's amazing the knowledge and people you can find out there.

[–] ftothe3@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Lemmy exclusively on my phone (Memmy app) and reddit occasionally when on my PC.

[–] astrodad@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

No. I bounce between here and my main Lemmy instance. I prefer KBin in general, but there are already usable apps for Lemmy.

[–] AnonymousLlama@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Drastically reduced my usage and now spend that time on other side projects / reading. I miss the large volume of comment but don't miss being treated like an obstacle (like how reddit leadership sees their users)

[–] francisco_1844@discuss.online 2 points 1 year ago

No. Have not logged for weeks and can't think of any good reason to go back.

[–] Wiggles@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Occasionally. From my desktop. Not really from my phone anymore. I like lemmy well enough but there still isn't as much content especially for niche subjects.

[–] Sabata11792@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

It still comes up on google when you need to figure out an obscure issue and is usually the best answer, although I'm trying to limit it. Other than that, I deleted my account and am long gone.

[–] Mugmoor@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago

I made a private LibReddit instance so I can still get the news from specific communities that aren't elsewhere.

[–] callyral@readit.buzz 2 points 1 year ago

only when searching for minecraft modding stuff, although i don't have an account anymore
