In order to get up to speed with the people that are coming here without TestFlight, I've submitted a build to Apple with all of the current features and fixes.

I'd anticipate this to take about 24 hours, but it's possible it will be reviewed today. Apple is weird. I've had things get approved in like 8 hours on Saturdays before, so there's a chance it will happen today. I'll update you all when that happens.

Improvements and additions:

New icon and options for changing icon color
New and improved swipe animation (by the way, this is better than the last update wink)

Username doesn't link to user profile in compact mode now
Add option to use the default browser instead of in-app browser

Fixes:

Fix issues with toast not changing color or disappearing
Fix cake day showing the wrong year
Fix issue where links with an internal IP address would ask for permission to local network
Fix issues with account disappearing after app launch
Read icon now uses the correct color
Fix crash caused when pressing Matrix links
Fix crash when searching for a community with an @ at the end

If any of these issues are bothering you now, rest assured they will be fixed for you quite soon.

btw setting up microsoft appcenter codepush is really quick and you can avoid slow update turn around.

I've been releasing my react native apps for years instantly to beta and alpha in-app update channels. Testflight is slow, the app store is slow, codepush is fast af.

Ok, that swipe animation do be nice tho.

One of the things I remember back from Alien Blue (I think) was that when you had a picture full screen, you could kinda grab it and “toss” if any direction to go back to the post. I think the official Reddit app may do this, but 🤷‍♂️

Also, scrubbing in Apollo was amazing. I noticed “wefwef” may have implemented if already.

Is there any way to stop having memmy ask me every time I save a photo if I want to keep selected photos or access all photos? Not sure why it’s asking me this to save a photo but there’s no way to back out of the option unless I either click “keep selected and then deselect the photo that I just saved and then click done.

I do like the new swipe animations but I find it’s much harder now to swipe from the left edge to go back to the community view, without accidentally activating the voting swipe on whatever comment happens to be where I’m swiping.

You have done amazing! Honestly the speed at which you release is phenomenal and pretty intimidating for someone who works in software, it sets a new benchmark in my opinion.

One thing that would be handy is the ability to share to Memmy from other apps via the share sheet

The ability to follow topics via a saved search or similar would also be handy.

Also the ability to bookmark a community but not have it appear in my feed would also be useful

Just feedback, overall this is such a polished app, I’m super impressed

too many line breaks. viewing a thread like this one, everything has a line break between it. too crowded. also, the swipe buttons have a black outline to it. shouldn't it just be a solid color?

Loving the app and appreciate all the hard work you all pours into it!

It probably have been brought up already but would love to eventually get options to edit the swipe actions and include the swipe left and right options to just go back and forward. More often than not that’s what I do until I find a post/comment that is interesting to upvote/reply to.

If you open up the image in the viewer, there should be a save button on the lower left.

Would love to see few features:

Ability to filter/block a community directly from feed, without having to go to that community.

A keyword filter list that hides post with those words in their title.

Ability to hide posts from feed.

I must say, I’m using the TestFlight build and the app is as smooth as ever. Night and day difference from the version of like a week ago.

Thank you! Question about the in-app browser. Many other apps use it and I've always been wondering: does it save cookies and sessions or is it just a minimal thing that just opens the page temporarily with safari, without persitent storage?

not sure if this is a bug or a feature request, but it doesn’t appear there is a way to view the users bio in memmy?

viewing a profile is fine, but anything you set in the bio on the web interface is not viewable anywhere in the app that i can find
