MODERATORS

A solid majority of Americans oppose a federal abortion ban as a rising number support access to abortions for any reason, a new poll finds, highlighting a politically perilous situation for candidates who oppose abortion rights as the November election draws closer.

Around 6 in 10 Americans think their state should generally allow a person to obtain a legal abortion if they don’t want to be pregnant for any reason, according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. That’s an increase from June 2021, a year before the Supreme Court overturned the constitutional right to the procedure, when about half of Americans thought legal abortion should be possible under these circumstances.

Americans are largely opposed to the strict bans that have taken effect in Republican-controlled states since the high court’s ruling two years ago. Full bans, with limited exceptions, have gone into effect in 14 GOP-led states, while three other states prohibit abortion after about six weeks of pregnancy, before women often realize they’re pregnant.

Well yeah that's because the majority of people aren't fucking morons and know that it's just a simple medical procedure and isn't murdering babies like brainwashed dolts think it is. Also that it will continue to be done whether it's legalized or not so it's better to be legalized and done professionally as to not harm the patient or cause any extra unnecessary stress like someone throwing themselves down a flight of stairs would cause.

republicans sure hate it when women are taken care of.

It's a handy thing for the right to stir up people over it as they don't give a shit about the baby or the mother. They're happy to implement it as it will get them votes with the only consequence of putting some women in medical danger. It's a no lose prospect for them.

E: sorry should have said the political leaders of the right to differentiate from the cattle, i.e. right wing voters.

Folks need to make sure they're voting in state elections, for representatives who share their views on abortion rights. Can't just wait for POTUS or SCOTUS, it's gonna have to be done at the state level.

Exactly. State level politicians have more control over your life than federal. And they are more accessible.

Hell, if you wake up early enough, you can drive to your state reps office and shit in her purse if you want and only be 30 minutes late to work.

That's what finding out that women are unnecessarily dying and taking the fetuses with them anyway will do.
