I just searched for this community, as I wanted to link to their starting guide from my instance. I searched for !lemmyworld@lemmy.world via my instance's search option, and now while I can visit it, it always appears empty.

I have experienced this when lemmy.ml was having issues. my instance was aware of the community existence but because whatever was happening with lemmy.ml when i tried to access the community (for me was startrek) it couldnt fetch any post data.

my instance then took a few hours to retry (best guess as i have no clue how the protocol/process works) and now all is visible.

I also noticed that that this was because i was the first person on instance to attempt to access the !startrek@lemmy.ml.

ye this is something similar to what I'm expecting. It seems lemmy.world grew way too fast and perhaps it doesn't have the compute to handle it. Or maybe it just needs more workers? https://lemmy.ml/post/1216911

Federation takes time. I had the same problem federating content to my instance, but it should start to populate eventually. If you control the instance, you might try upping your worker count. It defaults to 64. I set mine to 128 and it seems to be doing better, and lemmy.ml just set theirs to 512.

Yep I saw that as well, although the worker count should be proportional to how much content is being added to your instance, instead of how much is being received from others. So since my instance doesn't have a lot of activity yet, 64 is ok, but if lemmy.world has a ton of it (which seems likely) they need to buff that up on their end.
