Since Twitter has nothing to do with Tesla (beyond the emotionally stunted owner) this is serious line being crossed. I mean - I don't care about Tesla. But I do care about SpaceX and Starlink as they have serious geopolitical implications.

Some country's leader disses Twitter and they don't get to launch satellites. Or their people don't get satellite internet.

This amount of power should not be in the hands of one rich guy with an inferiority complex.

10 years ago if someone had told me that in the future the tantrums of a billionaire petulant manchild would decide what features are available in your already paid for car I wouldn't have believed them.

[–] BigDanishGuy@sh.itjust.works 10 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I wouldn't have not believed it, but I would be bummed to learn that we still haven't made contact with three-tiddied aliens.

[–] AlexJD@feddit.uk 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Truly the darkest timeline.

Imagine buying a $50k car and they take away features because the CEO is having a temper tantrum and wants everyone else to suffer.

You’d have to be a fool to give this guy your money.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 31 points 11 months ago

You’d have to be a fool to give this guy your money.

A fool and his money are easily parted.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 8 points 11 months ago

If only it was just money.

There are people joining waiting lists to let Musk put microchips in their brains.

[–] DarkThoughts@kbin.social 83 points 11 months ago

Cancel culture.

[–] Jaysyn@kbin.social 67 points 11 months ago (2 children)

"Citing fire hazard, Disney bans Tesla vehicles from their properties, worldwide." would be a hilarious headline.

[–] 0110010001100010@lemmy.world 32 points 11 months ago (1 children)

That would at least have some data to back it up. This is just a man-child throwing a hissy fit because the free market decided it didn't want to do business with Twitter.

You're just the right kind of evil, that's amazing.

What a tantrum-throwing manchild.

[–] chitak166@lemmy.world 40 points 11 months ago (5 children)

Holy shit. Who wants products with this much control given to someone else?

I seriously have no respect for anyone who buys apple or teslas.

What a pathetic gesture. I'll show them, I'll take away features from my cars! No one subs to Disney+ just because they can watch it in their car. All you're doing is pissing off tesla owners and scaring away potential owners with your little bitch fit. Pathetic.

[–] Chriswild@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Gotta love having a subscription for your car to give you a worse service than before because a man child bought a social media site.

[–] olosta@lemmy.world 36 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Bob, you know what you have to do. Remove him from Iron Man, that's petty, useless and perfect.

[–] Jarmer@slrpnk.net 20 points 11 months ago (2 children)

OMG that'd be hilarious. Also don't even say a word to anyone, just have an editor trim that 3 second scene from IM2 and replace it on the disney+ streaming service with this new version.

Better yet, deepfake over him with someone he’d hate. Changes nothing, enrages him

[–] ripcord@kbin.social 5 points 11 months ago

That'd be funny, but pretty counterproductive.

CEO of public company actively makes product worse because of business dealings at a seperate private company owned by said CEO. Not that Tesla shareholders don't already have enough reason to be pissed, but good lord.

And it's not a "feud" that would imply Disney is being petty instead of making the fucking obvious business decision to pull advertising spend from the dumpster fire of racism and controversy that is Twitter.

"free speech absolutist" lol

[–] Gemini24601@lemmy.world 24 points 11 months ago

As another once said, “Elon Musk is a stupid man’s genius,” and after all of his tantrums, I see it as true.

[–] ItsMeSpez@lemmy.world 23 points 11 months ago (4 children)

And here I am just now learning that cars have streaming media apps? That seems insane to me in the first place...

[–] whofearsthenight@lemm.ee 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Pretty sure they can only be used when parked like when you're charging. Even at a super charger, it's going to take 20-30 minutes to get back on the road.

[–] ItsMeSpez@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

Ah I didn't think of the charging times and maybe needing something to do while you waited. Alright, it's suddenly much more sane.

Why are there streaming apps in cars?

[–] Viper_NZ@lemmy.nz 20 points 11 months ago (7 children)

So I can watch something while I wait for my wife to finish shopping..

The streaming apps only work when the car is in park.

[–] jameskirk@startrek.website 17 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You can go with your wife, you know?

Kind of wild how this guy feels entitled to have people pay him

[–] MonkderZweite@feddit.ch 12 points 11 months ago

Eh, Tesla plays this game too?

Sounds to me like Elon is trying to blackmail Iger.

Don't know why the hell you'd need a streaming service in your car anyways

Any of my knowledge of this is based on the show Succession, so I probably have no idea what I'm talking about, but couldn't Tesla's board remove Elon as CEO for making terrible decisions that negatively affect shareholders?

[–] KingThrillgore@lemmy.ml 11 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Yes, they could once they prove that Elon's actions are impacting the day to day at Tesla regardless of conduct. The issue is the board is made of sycophants who will vouch for Elon, namely James Murdoch, JB Straubel, and his brother, Kimbal Musk

[–] whofearsthenight@lemm.ee 9 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

And, if Elon had a real board, this probably would have already happened. This is a perfect example of why. What problem has Disney caused Tesla that they could possibly articulate to a customer that would justify this move and not cost them good will if nothing else, and sales likely especially as this gets a ton of coverage? "Yes, I understand your frustration, and yes I can hear your kid screaming in the background about not being able to watch Frozen while you're stuck charging. But you see, sir/madame, our CEO has a very, and I really have to make sure I state this correctly, but very tiny penis. It's so small, just constantly peeing on his balls (which are also very small.) We here at Tesla let him compensate for this by making the product worse for you, our paying customers. Anyway, can I interest you in a CyberTruck? Please? We've only sold 3 and my family needs to eat."

[–] spiderkle@lemmy.ca 5 points 11 months ago

This week on billionaire's gossip: who's gonna pull their ads out of which social media network... and will they block each other on their app stores or IRL?! Stay tuned to find out if your Tesla is affected!!
