Client-site "multicommunities" would be nice. A way for me to group multiple communities into a single feed like multireddits.
Sync for Lemmy
๐
Welcome to Sync for Lemmy!
Welcome to the official Sync for Lemmy community.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Community Rules
1- No advertising or spam.
All types of advertising and spam are restricted in this community.
Community Credits
Artwork and community banner by: @MargotRobbie@lemmy.world
fairly minor thing, but can you detect from sync whether a home instance allows downvotes? mine does not, but sync still displays the unusable downvote button on everything
A few features I would love to see:
-
A way to view groups of multiple communities in a single feed. Like a multicommunity. A workaround right now is to have multiple accounts, which is less than ideal.
-
A way to view content from multiple accounts in a single feed. Like a universal feed.
-
An easier way to have the same settings apply to multiple accounts.
-
A way to block instances or communities.
When browsing "local" or "all", it would be nice to have some kind of indicator next to the community name to let you know if you've already subscribed or not. I browse "all" sometimes looking for new communities to sub to and I click through to find out I'm already subbed often.
I think something as simple as being able to set a different color for subbed communities would work well and be enough to stand out at a glance.
I second this. Especially useful as you could be following an exact or similarly named community and not notice it's on a different instance.
My biggest feature request is an option to view upvotes and downvotes separately rather than as one combined number. Ideally the current combined method would remain an option as well.
Comments collapsing down not up.
I.e. I read a long comment, collapse it and then don't have to scroll up to read the next one.
Last time I tried using the spoiler tag, I got multiple people responding telling me sync used syntax different from what Lemmy standard is. Not sure if that's been fixed yet, but sounds like an easy one.
Is it not possible to add upvotes history?
Yea I would always go check upvotes to find a post from recent, miss that feature
To see a list of all communities on an instance. Unless I'm being dumb, I don't see this feature yet. And a subscribe button next to each community in the list
you can, if you open an instance, there is a 'communities'. from there you can open each community and subscribe.
this would be easier with some images... lemmy grab those
Something that only makes sense on lemmy and not Reddit, but I think it would be cool to explore a combined account view. With defederation I've now ended up with multiple accounts that can all see different things. Could be nice to combine my beehaw and lemmy.world subscriptions view together.
Have a global setting for not sharing the post title by default when I want to directly share an image from the app. It's come unstuck and turned back on for me a couple times.
I also wanted to say the only reason I'm using lemmy at all is because of your app; I'm a big fan. As soon as your app turned off for Reddit, I quit using Reddit. I'm glad that you turned to this community, and I'll support you here too :)
Side note: I'm a software developer, so if you ever want an enhancement in an open-source library, maybe reach out and I can take a crack at it. I'm mostly familiar with Python and C# but I'm always willing to learn new things!
Rename other users or hide certain characters. Im sick of people using emojis in their names but I don't necessarily want to block them.
A way to group subscribed communities into a single 'subscription'. I can then associate all the tech related stuff into one clickable item, and all my sports related stuff etc.
Idea is to let me view subscriptions by 'topic'
Notifications. Doesn't have to be push notifications - polled notifications is fine as well until push is implemented.
After that, cross-posting support.
Viewing a user profile should have the option to see "posts/comments" together, and should default to it, just like Sync for Reddit. Thanks for all your hard work!
I've actually already added that for the next release!
It works for saved too
Allow users to switch accounts when making posts or comments instead of having to go back to the home screen
A cross post button or option of some kind.
I'd like to get a quick option to block a community right alongside the filter options (filter user, filter site, filter community).
Blocking an instance.
Until the Lemmy devs add this you can filter locally
Search function. I get this. I cannot search remote instance toast whenever I try to search
Good spot. Fixed for the next release.
Block Bots
Please
You can turn off the "show bots" option in Lemmy. I suppose you might have to go to the webpage instead of using Sync, but it's definitely an option.
Or you can block them like any user you find annoying.
When people post images, they often use markdown in the text field. Sync doesn't display this properly in the posts feed.
Having webp images/animated images show up in the post feed without having to click on the image
Offline sync would be fantastic.
Eternity for Lemmy implemented this and it's been really handy for small instance users to funnel traffic through our instances.
Not sure if it's a setting I've missed, but I use top 6 hour for the front page, which is great, but then when clicking into a post it still uses top 6 hour, which generally shows little activity or replies, until I then have to change it to active etc to see the whole thread. Am I just being dumb?
As far as issues, I experience occasional crashes (once or twice per day, maybe) when opening images. I haven't found a pattern as-yet but I will try to take note of an example next time it happens.
For new features, maybe push notifications of new messages?
Still loving the app, thanks for all you do!
User tagging similar to Reddit Enhancement Suite. Specifically keeping a count of up/down votes of other users and displaying next to their comments. Also when tagging users it saves a link to the comment causing you to tag them.
The current user tagging feature is the largest reason I subscribe to sync Ultra. It's really one of the only things that helped out with the spam aside from keeping to smaller communities.
An option to disable the toast 'you are hiding everything on page 6' and just continue on anyway, without needing to press retry.
Emoji support would be :chefs-kiss:
Would like an "overview" when going on mine or someone else's profile so posts and comments are mixed. Saves me clicking through each and giving better context.
-
I would like to be able to have the auto-complete/predict/correct available in the title field with the OpenBoard keyboard app, please.
-
And editing the title? (I learned I can do it from the website, but would like to be able to do it in Sync, if possible.)
I have four suggestions that I didn't mention in our previous talk:
1._ Swipe to upvote/downvote the main post in the comment section.
2._ Subscribed mark/icon for communities in the feeds or the new instances view to quickly know if we are already subscribed to such communities.
3._ In the Explore section the subbed users count only show up in unsubscribed communities, it would be nice if it shows In your subscribed communities as well.
4._ Ability to browse per instances in other sections (like when we are inside a community)
A rework of font sizing is something I really want to add too.
Maybe a little slider under general.
posted before maybe:
-
filters with a timeout (filters that disappear after a while). The filter might remain in a list of filters and can be reset again (or gets deleted after timeout). This would be a middle ground between blocking certain things completely and not at all.
-
weighing of certain communities. A weight of 0 would be the same as blocking. A weight of 1 doesn't change anything. A Weight of 0.5 would multiply the upvotes of posts by 0.5 in order to change its position on the frontpage. ( I am not sure how exactly the rank is determined, but weighing certain meme-communities lower would be nicer than completely blocking them - i like a nice stupid meme from time to time. am not sure how this could work on reality, son this might not have a perfect solution though.
Is there a way to see what I've upvoted? I've basically been both upvoting and saving everything. Thank you for all the work either way!
