Israel’s military has raided and ordered the closure of Al Jazeera’s office in Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank, the network said.

Al Jazeera broadcast live footage early on Sunday of Israeli soldiers entering its offices in Ramallah, capturing the reactions of bureau chief Walid Omary and staff members live on air.

A security guard on shift at the time told CNN the soldiers used explosives to breach the building’s entrance.

“My eyes were heavy, and I was almost asleep when I suddenly saw them breaking the main door,” said Abu Amer. “I stood up to see what they were doing. They threw the first bomb and then the second.”

“I tried to run away to the stairs and get some distance from them. I was so scared.”

After 350 days of continuous bombardment, the central blood bank affiliated with Al-Shifa Hospital was destroyed, making it nearly impossible to meet the urgent blood needs of the wounded and ill Palestinians.

Compounding this crisis, the widespread hunger gripping the region means that even those willing to donate blood are unable to do so due to malnutrition.

According to the UN July report titled, “The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2024”, every resident of Gaza is suffering from severe food insecurity.

This crisis is most acute in the northern areas, where people are so under-nourished that they are unable to donate blood.

The destruction of Al-Shifa’s blood bank has led to severe shortages, leaving the wounded and those with chronic illness facing the risk of death due to a lack of blood.

Morocco is set to try an Israeli soldier on charges of war crimes committed during military operations in Gaza, Morocco World News report.

The court in Rabat has agreed to review a lawsuit filed by a group of Moroccan lawyers after an Israeli soldier visited Marrakech after participating in Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.

Moche Avichzer is accused of involvement in human rights violations during the Israeli military campaigns in Gaza, where more than 41,000 Palestinians have been killed and 11,000 are missing.

Morocco normalised ties with Israel in 2020 and the trial could strain relations, which have included military deals, analysts have warned.

Human rights groups have long called for international actors to hold Israeli military personnel accountable for alleged war crimes, and Morocco’s move could set a precedent for such legal action.
